In Esperia, Celestials serve as a vital link between mortals and Dura the goddess, while shouldering the important responsibility of protecting the world. Today, let's delve into their origins and learn more about some heroes of this faction.
Following the Divine Reckoning, the powers of the gods began to wane. Coupled with the weakening of Ygdris' seal, the Hypogeans and Hypofiends made a comeback, plunging the world into pandemonium. At the outbreak of the first war against the Hypogeans, Dura the goddess selected a group of valiant individuals from among the living and the weapons, bestowing upon them part of her divine power and sharing her life with them. The Celestials were thus born. Blessed with longer lifespans and extraordinary abilities, they safeguard the world and act as an intermediary between the mortals and the divines, forming a formidable force against the Hypogeans.
The Celestials waged a long and fierce war against the Hypogeans that engulfed the entire Esperia. Each confrontation tested the resilience and strength of both sides. Having experienced through countless trials and bloodshed, Dura and her Celestials ultimately succeeded in resealing Ygdris, banishing the Hypogeans back to the dark abyss. With the war coming to an end, people began to rebuild their homeland, slowly recovering from a state of despair as they saw light at the end of the tunnel.
After the war, many in Esperia started worshipping Dura and transferred some of that reverence to Celestials, who carried Dura's power and will. Temples were built across the land to uphold and promote Dura's teachings. Today, these temples represent the people's beliefs and provide crucial support for Celestials as they continue to maintain peace in Esperia and prepare for future crises.
So far, Magister Merlin has met four Celestials: Dionel - Venus Blade, Scarlita - Herald of Compassion, Talene - Resurging Flame, and Dunlingr - Eternal Voice. Since the stories of Talene and Dunlingr have been revealed in previous episodes, it's time to learn more about Dionel and Scarlita!
Dionel
Dionel is a free-spirited Celestial with a keen sense of aesthetics. Many consider him a symbol of beauty because of his elegant looks as well as his exceptional artistic appreciation. He detests trouble and boring matters, often responding to the conflicts and dangers of the outside world with indifference. An avid fan of art and wine, he immerses himself in what fascinates him while remaining aloof and critical of anything he finds uninteresting. Though he appears detached from chaos, he secretly desires balance and order and is bent on protecting the world from evil.
Scarlita
Once a battle axe from the celestial armory, Scarlita was imbued with Dura's divinity after fighting alongside the gods in numerous battles. Her calling is to eliminate obstacles, protect the gods, and uphold order. Despite her immense power, she can be somewhat awkward and takes time to understand others in conversation. Her attacks may lack finesse, but she compensates with forceful slashes in retaliation. Scarlita vows to eradicate all evil in the world and rescue fallen souls with her axe.
Celestials roam throughout this perilous yet legendary land, embodying strength and valor with their unyielding spirit. Each one that Magister Merlin has befriended, with their distinct powers and destinies, will unite to shape the future of Esperia.
